Bean Counter

Privacy policy

Effective September 29, 2026

In short: Bean Counter doesn't collect any of your data. Your counters, counts and photos stay on your device. There are no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no account.

What stays on your device

Your counters, their history, notes, folders and settings are stored on your iPhone or iPad, where the app and its widgets can read them. They are never sent to us or to anyone else.

Bean Counter saves a backup file every day in the Files app, under On My iPhone › Bean Counter › Backups. Like the rest of your device, these may be included in your own iCloud or computer backups, depending on your settings. Backup files you export or share go wherever you choose to send them.

Photos

If you choose a photo as a counter's background (a Pro feature), you pick it with Apple's photo picker. Bean Counter only receives the photo you pick, not your photo library. A scaled-down copy is kept on your device and in your backups so the background survives a restore.

Purchases

Bean Counter Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details or your Apple Account information. Apple gives developers anonymous sales totals.

Siri and Shortcuts

So that phrases like "Count Water in Bean Counter" work, counter names are shared with Siri and Shortcuts on your device, as Apple's system requires.

Crash reports

If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports. They help fix bugs and contain no counts or personal information. You can turn this off at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

Children

Bean Counter collects no information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
